Easy Salmon Cakes
We all know that eating heart-healthy salmon is important, but grilling it every time can get boring after a while. So I made this quick and easy salmon cake, which was absolutely delicious. So, I thought, why not share with everyone?
What are Salmon Cakes?

Salmon Cakes are a cheap and simple meal to make. It is one of the best ways to convert your leftover salmon into a meal.
Canned salmon can be found in almost any grocery store and is very cheap. I mostly make this when I don’t want to spend too much time in the kitchen; I made this recipe as simple as possible. So, if you want a quick and easy meal, this is it.
Salmon patties are made with canned salmon, shredded bread (or breadcrumbs or even saltines), chopped onion, and an egg to bind it all together. The salmon cakes are then quickly fried.
We season the salmon patties with garlic, dill, bell pepper, paprika, lemon zest, and lemon juice in this simple salmon patties recipe. Add parsley, Old Bay seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, or cilantro if desired. Feel free to improvise and personalize these salmon cakes to your liking.
Ingredients At A Glance

Salmon fillet – There are several canned salmon options on the market, but I prefer those that use sustainable fishing practices (they will be listed as such on the label).
Unless you like the texture of the bones and skin, it’s easier to use the ones without bones or skin for salmon patties. This recipe calls for canned salmon, but if you have leftover cooked salmon, we have a patty for you as well.
Onion – You can use whichever onion you have in handy; red, yellow, white, anything works.
Ginger-Garlic – Ginger and garlic add flavor to the salmon. I am a garlic lover, so I have added garlic a bit more. You can adjust it to your liking.
Sriracha sauce – Sriracha sauce is a tangy, sweet flavor sauce with pungent garlic notes and a consistency similar to ketchup. It is slightly on the higher end of the spice scale, so add it as per your tolerance. You will find it in your nearby grocery store, or it is readily available online.
Cilantro – Fresh cilantro adds a pleasant aroma to the cakes masking the raw aroma of the fish.
Eggs – You will need eggs to bind the cakes together.
Oat flour -In the coffee grinder, grind rolled oats. I ground the Muesli myself, and it worked out great. The raisins and almonds added a nice flavor, but I usually use store-bought oat flour.
Green Chilis – Adding green chilis is totally optional. If you are not a spice lover, please skip it.
Olive Oil – I have used olive oil to shallow fry the cakes.
How To Prepare Salmon Cakes?
To begin, drain the juice from the salmon can. Then boil the salmon and cook completely. Set it aside to cool down before you start making the cakes.
Once the salmon is cold, mash it in a mixing bowl. Add the egg, onion, garlic, ginger, Sriracha sauce, salt, cilantro, and chilies to it.
Mix everything together; it’ll be a little soggy.
Now start adding the oat flour little by little so that it absorbs the liquid and forms a “dough.”
Check to see if you can make patties. If this is the case, do not add any more oat flour. If not, continue to add until you can form patties.
Once the dough is formed, shallow fry the patties and enjoy!
