Description

Gobi manchurian is a popular Indo-Chinese dish. In gobi manchurian, gobi/cauliflower is deep fried.But I have tried a healthier version by steaming the cauliflower and then adding it to the sauce.

  • 2 Gobi/Cauliflower – medium size cut into florets
  • 1 cup Bell peppers – cut into 2cm cubes
  • 1 cup Spring onion bulbs – cut into halves
  • ½ cup Spring onions green – cut into 1cm length
  • 4 Green chili – slit length wise
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Red chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Garlic – finely chopped
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  1. Let us first prepare the steamer by adding water in it and steaming the cauliflower for 5 minutes on high flame.
  2. We do not have to cook the gobi completely or else it will become mushy. The gobi should be half cooked. Keep it aside once done.
  3. Now take a kadai heat it and add oil.
  4. Fry the half cooked gobi florets till golden brown in colour.
  5. Once done keep it aside in a bowl.
  6. Now let us prepare the sauce for the gobi manchurian.
  7. All the cooking for the sauce is done in medium to high heat.
  8. In the same kadai add chopped garlic and green chilies and saute for a minute.
  9. Add soy sauce, tomato ketchup and red chili sauce.
  10. Keep stirring it so that the sauce does not get burnt.
  11. Now add the spring onion bulbs and salt.
  12. Saute for 2 minutes.
  13. Add vinegar, sugar and mix well.
  14. Add the bell peppers and saute for 2 minutes.
  15. Add the cauliflower florets and mix with a light hand so that the florets do not break.
  16. If you feel there is not much gravy add some more tomato ketchup and mix everything well.
  17. Cook on high heat for 3 to 4 minutes for all the flavours to incorporate well.
  18. Once done garnish with some chopped spring onion greens and serve.
