Power Packed Dal Idlis

Description
Who does not like steaming hot pillows of soft idlis? Today I tried a new recipe of dal idlis without any rice and believe me it came out so good, soft and yummy.

Ingredients
- 1 cup Urad Dal
- 1 cup Yellow Moong Dal
- 2 Green Chilies – finely chopped
- 1 inch Ginger – finely chopped
- ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
- ½ tsp Asafetida/ Hing
- 1 tsp Salt
Instructions
- Wash and soak the dals in separate bowls for 3 hours.
- Grind them to a smooth paste
- Cover and keep them aside overnight.
- The dals will ferment and become double its amount.
- Now add salt, ginger, turmeric, asafetida and green chilies.
- Mix well.
- Grease idli mould and add dal batter
- Steam about 12 minutes
- Insert a toothpick/skewer to check if they are done or not.
- If the skewer comes out clean then the idlis are done or else steam for some more time.
